POLICE - Patch ArtworkWelcome to the mars hill police departmentThe Mars Hill Police Department is a community-oriented law enforcement agency focusing on improving the quality of lives within our diverse neighborhoods. We proudly serve and protect the local citizens and the Mars Hill University community. Our philosophy mandates that we provide the highest quality of service with professional law enforcement officers. The dedicated staff of our agency strive to fulfill our organizational objectives and responsibilities with integrity and transparency.

MEDICATION DISPOSAL PROGRAMSafe and timely disposal of unneeded prescription medications, especially opioids, has never been more important than it is today. In addition to keeping these substances out of our water supply, safe disposal of unneeded medication helps to keep drugs out of the hands of people who might abuse them.

Abuse of certain prescription medications, which has led many people into addiction and heroin use, has become a deadly epidemic across the United States. Even non-opioid drugs present dangers if kept in a household when they are no longer needed. They can be ingested accidentally by children or visitors or mistaken for a use they are not intended.

The Mars Hill Police Department has installed a permanent medicine drop box in the administration office lobby located in the Mars Hill Town Hall. Please feel free to bring in your medications and deposit them in the box for safe disposal destruction.

Community Well-Check ProgramThe COMMUNITY WELL-CHECK PROGRAM is a designed to help with the day-to-day safety and well-being of community residents who live alone in the city limits of the Town of Mars Hill. The program is provides additional support for seniors, persons with medical disabilities, persons who have special needs, or shut-ins living alone in the community who need to be checked upon daily.

This program provides a daily check by phone for the participant from a Town of Mars Hill staff member. If the participant does not respond to the check by phone, the Mars Hill Police Department will contact the emergency contact for the participant. If no contact can be made with the participant or their emergency contact, the Mars Hill Police Department will dispatch an officer to the participant’s address in an attempt to make contact with the participant to ensure they are safe.
